Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Alhaji Musiliu Smith on his 75 years birthday. Smith, a former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and ex-head of the Lagos State Security Council, clocks 75 on Saturday April 17. Governor Sanwo-Olu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, on Friday in Lagos, described Alhaji Smith as a worthy ambassador, committed public servant and elder statesman who is worth celebrating. He said the former Inspector General of Police has lived an exemplary life of hard work, purposefulness and dedication to the service of humanity. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, flagged off the construction of Red Line of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) project, which starts from Agbado and terminates at Marina.  The 37-kilometre-long rail corridor will be constructed in three phases, with the first phase of the project (Agbado-Iddo) to be completed in 24 months, spanning 28 kilometres and sharing track with the existing Lagos-Ibadan rail infrastructure built by the Federal Government.  The ground-breaking ceremony was held at the proposed site for the Ikeja Train Station. LAGOS POLICE DISMISS, PROSECUTE COP FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER OF LADY FRIEND

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed and prosecuted one Sgt Eze Aiwansoba, m, attached to the Special Protection Unit, Base 16, Ikeja, for firing and attempting to kill his lady friend, Joy Ndubueze, f, on 8th October, 2020, at Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja of Lagos State.  The incident was referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Lagos State Police Command for investigation where it was revealed that the ex-policeman has a case to answer.  The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, ordered for the orderly room trial of the suspect where he was found guilty and recommended for dismissal. The approval for his dismissal was contained in a letter numbered PC. 458465/LS/DFA/2, dated 2nd February, 2021. Family announces funeral plan for Yinka Odumakin

The funeral plan for the late activist and Afenifere spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, has been announced.  His remains will be laid to rest in his home town in Osun state  on Saturday 24th April.. The disclosure was made by his widow, DrJoe Okei-Odumakin,  on Monday that  the rites would begin on Thursday, 22 April with a day of tributes by activists opinion leaders,Afenifere and others  at the Police College, Ikeja.
