STEMINIST CAMP ENDS IN OSHODI-ISOLO LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNDP VOCATION AND TRAINING INSTITUTE

The two weeks Steminist camp organized by Auxillium Organisation in conjunction with UNDP Oshodi-Isolo Local Government is for female girls between age 12 - 18 years, to educate them on the STEAM concept which is Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. 


According to the facilitator of the program Sophiyat Sadiq, the camp understands the problems facing secondary students in our locality as regards the teaching of sciences in public schools, Auxillium in their wisdom through the two-week camp has been imparting  knowledge on the girls through practical learning of science in a conducive atmosphere. 


"In the camp, we just don't talk or define  genetics, engineering, chemistry, cross-breeding, etc  but we provided them with resources and experienced teachers who have a different teaching training session with them, within the time limit the girls  were able to make a product like a torchlight, solar panel, hydraulic, etc " 

 

She explained that her organization would do a follow-up with the participants after the close of the camp through a competition that would be initiated at every holiday to always keep their creative minds alive.


Narrating her experience in the two-week camp, Miss Sadiq Sophia, an undergraduate student of Lagos State University explained that at the start of the camp her organization was skeptical as majority of the participants were cold at the initial stage because the concept was alien to them unlike vocational training but glory be to God many of them had blended into the training and we are amazed by their assimilation rate and creative mind. 


" lots of them have creative ideas but without material and knowledge there is little they can do,  on this Auxilium organization have provided them with material and You will be surprised  to see what they  invented,"


Sophiyat Sadiq appreciated the Local Government for providing a conducive learning  environment and urged residents to turn up en mass on Friday 30th April 2020 at UNDP Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Vocational Centre to witness the graduation cum exhibition of  products made by the participant  and urged everyone to join hands in changing the narrative of negative impression  about

 Oshodi through laudable programmes and initiatives like this.


Mr. Tunde Ogundiran coordinator of UNDP Oshodi-Isolo Vocation /Training institute lauded the brilliant Idea of the Auxillium organization taking science studies to female teenagers through practicals lessons to arose their fear  in such area of education which we have not exploited.  In his words " the concept does not follow the traditional method of teaching,

rather it focuses on the unique creativity and capability of

each child and allow them to express that through

projects.

Participants also work collaboratively

and learn the importance of teamwork to build the

dream work." 


He assured the residents that  IBMA's administration is ready to support any group or individual with such laudable programs that can add value to the citizens of Oshodi and its environs.

Ooni Condemns Incessant Rape, child Abuse as Ife celebrates Yeyemolu festival

The Arole Oduduwa & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has condemned incessant rape, child abuse and other forms of molestation particularly against women in the society. HON. IDRIS BOLAJI MUSE ARIYOH COMMISERATES WITH FATOKI FAMILY

Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Chairman Hon. Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh commiserate with the family of the former Mandate Chairman in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Elder Albert Babasola Fatoki who passed on today, 10th January 2021 at his residence in Whaabi Larinde after a brief illness.  In a condolence message signed by him, he described the late as a leader, father, an astute politician, and a community leader who spent his life in the service of humanity and his community. He described the exit of the political icon as a great loss to the entire Oshodi community, Ogunoloko ward, and  most especially the All Progressives Congress whose immense contribution to its success in all the elections cannot be over-emphasized.  He prayed Allah  grants him eternal rest and give the family, his friends, and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
