APC Congresses: Ajibulu Calls for Caution, Backs Southern Governor in Ekiti

Rehabilitation Of Adeyemi Street Commences, As Kendoo Mobilizes LSPWC To Site

The rehabilitation of the popular Adeyemi street in Oshodi Isolo local  commenced this morning with the moving to the site by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation. Kendoo, the new chairman of the local decided that the rehabilitation of the popular road should be done to lessen the burden  and travel time of the good people of Oshodi-mafoluku residents.  Some of the Agency's earth moving equipments were seen at the site and most of the residents of Adeyemi and adjoining streets commended the government for intervention, heaving sigh of relieve with Kendoo facilititating the project even before his inauguration. Lagos issues 3 – Day Removal Notice to owners of illegal structures in Lekki

  Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit (Taskforce) on Monday issued a 3 -Day Removal Notice to all owners of makeshift structures, shanties, kiosks and vehicles at Maroko and Lekki Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos.   The Chairman of Taskforce, CSP Shola Jejeloye, who led his team to the points of the issuance of the removal notices noted that the order became necessary for the road construction along the coastal road which serves as an alternative route for the Lekki-Epe Expressway.   The road which leads to Lekki Free Zone has been dotted by illegal structures, shanties, abandoned vehicles, containers and trading activities.   According to the Chairman, CSP Jejeloye, “the stretch of road has been taken over by mechanics, block makers, bamboo and wood sellers, shanties and other illegal occupiers, which are going to hamper road construction work in the area.   He stated that on expiration of the Removal Notice on Thursday, officials of the agency would remove all

A Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in one of the local government area of Ekiti State has been arrested by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for trafficking illicit drug. The Chairman in Ijero Ekiti local government area, Babatunde Babade, 45, according to a statement by the spokesman of NDLEA, Femi Babafemi was arrested along with two others; Ilesanmi Shola, 35, and Babajide Johnson, 45, for trafficking illicit drug. According to Babafemi, the transport union leader was caught with 52.5 kilogrammes of skunk in Akure, the Ondo state capital following intelligence that he was conveying bags of the banned drug in his blue Mazda 1997 model car with registration number: Ekiti JER 194 AE from Akure to Ekiti state. He said Babade, popularly called BB, was taken into custody along with others soon after his arrest at about 2pm on Sunday 18th July, 2021 for interrogation, and in his statement, he admitted he owns the vehicle used

Hijab wearing multiple identity lady arrested for drug trafficking by NDLEA

A 36-year-old lady, Chioma Afam, who takes up multiple identities and wears hijab to evade security scrutiny has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA in Benue State. He was arrested along with her partner, Chidinma Caleb, 22, while trying to smuggle a total of 296,000 tablets of Diazepam and Exol-5 from Onitsha, Anambra State to Gombe State. Chioma who picks up names such as Amina, Uzoamaka and Ifunaya to cover her criminal activities was arrested on Saturday 17th July, 2021, along with the 22-year-old Chidinma Caleb who also wears hijab as a cover for her nefarious activities during routine checks and profiling of inward vehicles into Makurdi, the Benue state capital.  Their vehicle which was coming from Onitsha, Anambra state was intercepted along Makurdi – Alliade road while heading to Gombe State via Makurdi.  A search of their vehicle led to the discovery of 43 kilogrammes of Diazepam and 33 kilogrammes of Exol-5, both weighing 76 kilogram

Seven women killed in stampede during food distribution in Monguno

ICRC Warehouse looted, Staff Injured Seven women were on Thursday trampled to death in Monguno, Borno State during food distribution by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to pregnant and malnourished lactating mothers. According to a staff of ICRC who spoke anonymously to ThisDay, their office was also looted and staff injured in a protest that followed the stampede. Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) today impounded 104 motorcycles for plying restricted routes in the state. The 104 motorcycles were impounded in Second Rainbow, Cele and Okota for plying restricted and endangering the lives of other road users. United Nations migration agency, International Organisation for Migration, (IOM) has put the total number of displaced persons in North East Nigeria at about 12 million even as it said 4.4 million people are at the risk of food insecurity due to protracted and increasing insecurity in the troubled region. Speaking at the weekend in Abuja to journalists on issues sorounding migration, security and their impact on human lives,  the IOM chief of mission in Nigeria, Frantz Celestin, noted that increased number of people are migrating due to insecurity and the impact of COVID-19, climate change and natural disasters and that the security situation in North East Nigeria, is grim leading to the large number of displaced persons. NDLEA intercepts N6.5bn worth of heroin at Lagos airport, declares drug baron wanted

A suspected drug baron, Tony Onwurolu has been declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following the interception of 26.150 kilogrammes of heroin consignment at the SAHCO shed of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. The drug with a street value of over N6.5billion was intercepted on arrival in Lagos in 25 parcels from South Africa through an Airpeace Airline flight on 30th June, 2021. The consignment was screened following reasonable suspicion of it’s content, with a  follow up operation subsequently carried out the following day, 1st July. According to the spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi in a statement on Sunday, the follow up operation by the narcotic officers of the MMIA command, who trailed the driver and a clearing agent that were assigned to deliver the consignment, led them to the house of a baron, Tony Onwurolu at No. 132 Lateef Adegboyega Street, off Ago palace way by Grandmate bus stop Okota, Lagos.
