SOMOLU LG CHAIRMAN 'DULLAR' IMPLORES YOUTHS TO BE COMMITTED TO THEIR COMMUNITIES


...says it pays to join community development as youth

Youths are implored to be dutiful and committed to their communities in terms of progress, peace and development to ease the contribution of government to such communities.

This call was made by the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, when he was presenting a car gift to his Special Adviser on Environment, Comrade Rotimi Oluyede. According to the Mayor, Comrade Oluyede is a dutiful youth who  has been involved in community development, even before his appointment. 

The Mayor said Oluyede is a model that youths in Somolu should emulate in community involvement as his appointment about three years ago was as a result of his community participation in environment, security and residents engagement. "This is a young man who has taken it upon himself to monitor PSP Operators as they clear waste from every street in Somolu and he even give daily report of such activities", the Mayor Stated.

The car gift which the Council Helmsman said it will ease and improve the activities of the workaholic Comrade, caught the Special Adviser on Environment by surprise as he swiftly answered to the call of Chairperson, Mrs. Omotanwa Salawu. "I was busy in Akoka trying to solve some environmental hazard caused by the heavy rain when the Chairperson called my that the Chairman wanted to see me and I thought it was summon about a blocked drainage or something but I was given the car key by the Mayor that I usually call Mr Imototo", Oluyede narrated.

When asked about his advise to youths in Somolu, Oluyede said youths should be creative, tolerant and be involved in activities around their communities. "When I started as a volunteer environmental vanguard in Akoka, some people were mocking me while some were  commending me but i remained committed and creative with my business and my community too", the delighted Comrade said.

Moreover, the Mayor of Somolu, two weeks ago, had presented a Lexus Car to his Personal Aide on Special Duties, Mr. Lekan Otaiku. The joyous Otaiku was speechless for several hours as he was handed over the New White Lexus ES-300 Car which caught by astonishment.

In a related development, a Somolu youth, Folorunso Abiodun (Dudu) who is a driver was empowered by the Mayor with a Suzuki Everwagon Mini-Bus to help him start a commercial transportation business to help himself and his family.

With the Mayor during the vehicles presentation, include Hon. Yomi Osunkoya (Leader, Somolu Legislative Council), Pastor Femi Taiwo (APC Somolu Chairman), Hon. Gbolahan Bagostowe (Immediate Past Chairman, Somolu LG), Mrs. Omotanwa Salawu (Chairperson, Somolu LG), Alhaji Kabir Raji (Supervisor for Works & Infrastructure) with many other aides of the Mayor and party chieftains.

Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu said youths should note that it pays to be involved community development irrespective of their discipline. "As a youth, if you work as a teacher, doctor, accountant, administration or engineer, it won't disturb you to join in your community development and politics too", the Mayor said.
