INCLUSIVE AND PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY AT THE GRASSROOTS. THE ARIYOH EXAMPLE
HON.IDRIS BOLAJI MUSE ARIYOH LEADERSHIP IMPACT TOWARDS ENHANCING INCLUSIVE AND PARTICIPATORY GOVERNANCE AT THE THE GRASSROOTS
A society can only become a better place for all when the cravings and agitation of the people at the grassroots are met as a result of governance mechanism institutionalized in conversion of those demands into output through the responsiveness of the system to the needs of the people.
The council chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon.Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh, in realizing a functional and effective system at the grassroots that takes into cognizance the peculiar needs of each community, in a pragmatic effort of ensuring that no part of the community is marginalized in the scheme of development, devised an unprecedented policy which gave more responsibilities to each Community Development Association (CDA's) to implement a community -based oriented project financed by the Local Government tagged ARIYOH INTERVENTION PROJECT ( AIP).
So far, many of the CDA's are already beneficiaries of this "Grassroots Initiative" of Hon. Bolaji Muse Ariyoh's led administration aimed at strengthening inclusive and participatory governance at the grassroots in bringing about the desired positive change at the community level .
Among the CDA that have received the community developmental grant from the Local Government are ARIORI IJAIYE , MABOJU, ISOKAN , OMAK, EWU TITUN, ARAROMI , IGBEYINWA ADUN , AMAYO to mention but a few.
The impact of the administration in endearing grassroots governance to the people was responsible for the program called "A DAY WITH THE MAYOR" which for the first time in the annal of the local government provided a platform for the youth and opinion influencers In the community to engage the council Chairman on developmental issues which also served as a linkage in the process of decision making for demands aggregation at the grassroots with workable suggestions injected into the system in solving the challenges at the various community which today is making Oshodi a better place for all and sundry.
The constant touch between the council Authority and various existing groups such as Religious bodies,Ethnic groups, Artisans, Student groups, Civil society, Market Association and other have been able to broaden and solidified the cordial and harmonious relationship between the government and governed at the grassroots, means through which adequate representation and participation have been realized in making the government closer to the people than ever before.
It is no doubt that the leadership of Hon.Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh is actually living up to expectations in the area of consultation and feedback to the people through their active involvement as stakeholders.
