AREGBESOLA'S 1-Year AS MINISTER

It takes a person with a genuinely progressive frame of mind to understand somebody with a progressive mindset like our Vice Chancellor at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu University of Politics (BATUP), Lagos, H.E Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

  

This reality, being at my disposal, was what caused me not to be bothered when the news headline of "I don't know anything about the Interior ministry" was credited to the brand new Minister of Interior,  Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola last year, immediately after ministerial inauguration. The comment was reported by virtually, all the Nigeria's news feeders.


I knew quite well that somebody like Aregbesola who received his tutelage directly under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would never go and fumble anywhere , either he is  familiar or not familiar with the task before him, in as much the matter is about public administration. 


So, rather than getting myself engaged in an unnecessary argument which trailed the news, I chose to find out the psychological implications of the statement. 


And I was able to realize that the statement was a primary remark which by, at least, 1-year's time must be able to give birth to a secondary remark. And probably, a tertiary remark as well. 


Now, one year is gone and the testimonies of Aregbesola's good achievements in the same  Ministry of interior  have caused people to come up with the secondary version of that statement as envisaged. 


People are now saying "what else would Aregbesola have done if he had known something about the Ministry of Interior contrary to his earlier claim?".


Aregbesola who does not know anything about the  interior ministry  has procured 28 new fire service engines to boost emergency fire response capacity across the country within one year in office. Aregbesola, within one year, had suddenly known how to train and deploy over 1,500 personnel as Agro-rangers to protect farmers and their farms in the BokoHaram ravaging states of Yobe and Adamawa and to ensure food security.


Aregbesola the self acclaimed interior ministry "novice" had successfully improved the work capacity of the nation's fire service tremendously. Within a year,  2,615 fire calls were responded to by the country's fire agency  while 724 lives and property worth N1.629 Trillion were saved across Nigeria(between June and October 2019).


Aregbesola who claimed not to know anything about the ministry of Interior has installed, just within a year of being the minister,  Migration Information and Data Analysis System(MIDAS) in all international airports in the country.


Apart from the construction of 3000 capacity custodial centres for 3 geopolitical zones, and construction of world class technology building to manage Nigeria's Immigration ICT enhanced systems, all within one year,  Aregbesola has rehabilitated and reopened the 32 Satellite Custodial Centres earlier shut down due to insurgency just in one year. 


Aregbesola has approved the new Visa policy reclassifying the Visa Categories from 6 to 79. Also,  within one year in office, Aregbesola has procured 451 operational vehicles for the Nigeria correctional service. Under his one year watch, Nigeria has achieved Visa on arrival to holders of passports of African countries. Ogbeni Aregbesola had created Citizens Integrity Unit at NSCDC. 


Above all, Aregbesola in his one year coordination of the  nation's prison service, he has proved to be a very sensitive and compassionate administrator who does not belittle any citizen, either free or in incarceration. Inmates were not exempted from the much advertised adherence to COVID19 prevention protocols.


No prisoner has been tested positive to COVID19, or killed by it. Ordinarily, the nature of our correctional facilities in Nigeria would have on its own help the quick spread of COVID-19 among inmates.


Consequent on Aregbesola's enormous achievements of the past one year, as a tertiary version of that initial remark, the question which the people are now asking is that "If an experienced engineer could do this much in a ministry where he had confessed not to know anything,  what can Nigerians be expecting if Engineer Aregbesola is given the privilege as a minister in any engineering related ministry? ". Probably, in the next cabinet reshuffle, I'm thinking of Works or Power ministry.

Ooni Condemns Incessant Rape, child Abuse as Ife celebrates Yeyemolu festival

The Arole Oduduwa & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has condemned incessant rape, child abuse and other forms of molestation particularly against women in the society. HON. IDRIS BOLAJI MUSE ARIYOH COMMISERATES WITH FATOKI FAMILY

Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Chairman Hon. Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh commiserate with the family of the former Mandate Chairman in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Elder Albert Babasola Fatoki who passed on today, 10th January 2021 at his residence in Whaabi Larinde after a brief illness.  In a condolence message signed by him, he described the late as a leader, father, an astute politician, and a community leader who spent his life in the service of humanity and his community. He described the exit of the political icon as a great loss to the entire Oshodi community, Ogunoloko ward, and  most especially the All Progressives Congress whose immense contribution to its success in all the elections cannot be over-emphasized.  He prayed Allah  grants him eternal rest and give the family, his friends, and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
