LWC COMMITS TO IMPROVE WATER SUPPLY, AS IJU WATER PLANT INCREASES SUPPLY..


Commitment as a trait of sincere and steadfast fixity of purpose has been demonstrated by the Lagos Water Corporation, as the largest water producer in sub-sahara Africa improved water production and supply to the State population of over 22million.


Lagos Water Corporation, Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Muminu Adekunle Badmus made the disclosure while on working visit to Iju Waterworks on Friday 21st August, 2020, as the Waterworks increased water production and supply to the residents of Lagos. 


"Iju Waterworks has added substantial percentage of MGD (Millions Gallons per Day) to its water production capacity as a result of successful repair of 2Clear water pumps by the LWC In-house Maintenance team to improve service delivery to Lagosians.


"Also, there is ongoing repair of additional pumps to add to the existing and functioning 3pumps for optimal production/performance of designed capacity of 45MGD (Million Gallons per Day) which is already translating to increase in supply to the residents".


Engr. Badmus who commended the maintenance team for job well done, explained further that residents with no water for the past 2/3years have started experiencing/enjoying potable water supply as a result of improve in Supply. Such areas in the coverage areas of LWC Operations are: South East Region: Surulere, Itire areas (Bode Thomas, Itoto, Idita axis).


Others are: North Region,  Division of Ifako 2: (Akute area, Ajuwon area, Iju Ishaga area and Fagba area of the State.


For Central Region: Shomolu (Unilag, FCE); Ilupeju (Railway line); Mushin (Agege motor road/axis), amongst others.


Also, the impact of improve in Supply was felt along Awolowo road of South region of LWC coverage areas, hoping that with consistency of the Supply, the spread will get to other desired areas of Iju water plant.


Similarly, repair work ongoing at Adiyan waterworks by RTS to have additional two (2) raw water pumps in Operations to take the Waterworks to three (3) functional pumps soon.


While the State Government is working on complete overhaul of the three (3) major facilities of Iju, Adiyan and Ishasi waterworks located across the State, it is aimed at getting water supply to every nooks and crannies of the State in a shortest possible time.


However, the Corporation has lauded the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu's Administration for continuously getting needed support to ensure steady and sustainable supply of water to the residents.


LWC has also given assurance to the general public of a sustainable supply of potable water, urging Lagosians to always report burst and leak pipes to the nearest LWC Offices across the State and complement the Corporation's efforts by paying their water rates as when due.


While thanking Lagosians for their continuous understanding and cooperation at all time, the Corporation added that the State Government is undauntedly committed to close the water demand gap in the State.
