…Urges protesters to listen to the government
Following the continued protest against Nigerian Police tactical team, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Police brutality, the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Governement, Hon. Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh has joined has condemned in strong terms the police brutality and inhumane treatment of the youth and people of Nigeria.
The Executive Chairman also praised the Governor ,Babajide Sanwo-Olu for inaugurating an 8-man Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution which will receive and investigate complaints of police brutality in Lagos.
Hon.Ariyoh made it known that he is pleased with the approach taken so far by Mr Governor in tackling the #Endsars protests issue in Lagos State. He said imposing curfew in the State is a good step to help secure, streamline security of lives and property in the State.
The Council helmsman said the protesters meant well for Nigeria and Nigerians but as hoodlums are taking advantage of absence of security personnel in some areas to attack and inflict pains on citizens ,and law enforcement agencies, is an issue of great concern to the government.
He said despite the peaceful protests in some areas, many people are in pain and some had died as they can’t access their means of livelihood and medical services.
Hon. Idris Bolaji Muse Ariyoh call on Oshodi youths to trust the Governor’s leadership intervention in ending Police brutality in the state.
However' urged the youths to embrace the dialogue as opened by Lagos State Government as that is the only thing that will distinguish between the peaceful protesters from the hoodlums who had hijacked the protest in some areas, causing pain and danger on residents and road users.
He therefore enjoined the people of Oshodi-Isolo community to adhere to the 24 hours curfew directive by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu from 4pm of Tuesday, October 20, 2020. The curfew is imposed to check the hoodlums who are using the opportunity of the peaceful protest to disrupt the peace of the state.
