INSECURITY:OLU OF ILARO CALLS ON FEDERAL AND OGUN STATE GOVERNMENTS TO ACT APPROPRIATELY.
SAYS PEOPLE MAY RESORT TO SELF HELP
The federal and Ogun state governments have been called upon to rise up to the challenge of senseless killing of innocent people across Yewa land or else the people will be forced to resort to self help inorder to protect themselves against invasion by suspected herders.
This warning was handed down on Saturday by the Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland,Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle in a press release he personally signed titled"stopping the time bomb before it is too late', where he narrated the invasion of several villages by the herders..
According to the monarch" the attention of the president and commander in chief of the armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria, His Excellency president Muhammadu Buhari and all the security agencies is drawn to the continued siege of the the entire Yewaland of Ogun state in the last few weeks by armed herdsmen and bandits callously liking and slaughtering and maiming of our people.
The yewa king equally stated that the dangerous activities of these herdsmen have so far happened in Egua, Oja Odan, Igan Alade, Ijoun, imeko Afon and other places and that their nefarious activities are inimical to peace in the entire yewaland.
He said"the federal government and ogun state government are hereby implored as a matter of urgency to act fast to secure the lives and properties of our people before it spiral out of complete control. In this situation, it's not out of place that people may resort to self help to defend themselves if the governments fail to guarantee their safety as citizen of Nigeria in the face of renewed insurgency by these criminals terrorising our people with arms and dangerous weapons. "
Oba Olugbenle equally disclosed that he is issuing the press release as the paramount ruler of the region and in consultation with the entire Yewa traditional council and the people in the hope that government at both levels with security agencies will live up to expectations as enshrined in the constitution.
Conclusively, Oba Olugbenle also appeal to the people to cooperate with the state government on various measures already put in place to curb the activities of bandits in the days ahead..
In his words"our people should please cooperate with the state government on various security measures already mapped out to curb the activities of these bandits, a stitch in time, saved nine. "
