The Secretary of the South West Zone of the the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bamgbola Gbolagunte said that the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola deserved his being honoured with the Grand Patron of the association.  Gbolagunte told newsmen that the National Secretariat of the Union and its National President, Chris Isiguzo were in full support of the award because, "Aregbesola fully merits it".  Gbolagunte also added that all the six-state NUJ councils in the South-West endorsed Aregbesola for the award . He said, "The zone chose Aregbesola for the investiture and award. Before he was chosen; his name was presented to the Chairmen and Secretaries of the councils that make up the South-West zone. They all approved that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola be made the Grand Patron of the zone and also receive an Award of Excellence. USAID launches $72 million good governance sustaining machinery for states

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched a $72 million good governance sustaining machinery in Nigerian states. The programme, a new State Accountability, and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity to strengthen subnational governance systems in six key states of Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Gombe and Sokoto with the intention of extending it to other states, will run for five years. A press release on Wednesday by USAID, said the five-year, $72 million State2State Activity would help improve how these states plan and budget, raise revenues, increase civil society participation, and oversee service delivery in the health; education; and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sectors.   It said: “The activity will begin operations in Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Gombe and Sokoto states and later expand to others.” It explained that State2State works primarily at the state level, but also supports federal institutions and local government are

NDLEA Lists 8 Countries with Visa Clearance Requirements

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has listed the eight countries which require that it gives a mandatory visa clearance to those intending to travel to their land. The countries are: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Brazil, Pakistan, Philipines and Russia. The NDLEA disclosed the name of the countries to debunk claims that it was introducing a levy to belabour travelers, insisting that the requirement from the eight countries was not new as it has been in existence for 24 years. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday March 18, 2021 arraigned one Adamu Bello before Justice Ado Yusuf Birnin Kudu of Jigawa State High Court on one count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence. The defendant allegedly obtained food items from Usman Dabuwa under the pretext that he had a contract to supply the items to the Federal Government Girls College, Kazaure. The Lagos State Government has inaugurated a nine-man Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the successful hosting of the Y2021 Summit on Culture, Arts and Heritage (SCAH 2021). The State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, who is also the Chairman of the Committee, inaugurated its members on Tuesday at Alausa, Ikeja.
