The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has again stressed the need to fortify all custodial facilities across the country against any attack, declaring the facilities as 'Red Zones' to invaders. Aregbesola gave the charge while addressing  Squadron Commanders of the Nigerian Correctional Service, on Friday, 30 April, 2021 in Abuja, saying  that they were armed and positioned to directly guard the Centres and defend their integrity. CACOL LAMENTS SPATE OF INSECURITY IN THE COUNTRY

NDLEA intercepts drugs concealed in statue of Mary, auto spare parts

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted illicit drugs concealed in the statue of Mary and auto spare parts heading from Lagos to Canada and the United Arab Emirate, UAE. The arresting officers were narcotics agents from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations embedded in two courier companies in Lagos. They were able to seize 500 grammes of heroin going to Canada and hidden inside auto spare parts from one of the courier firms while 140 grammes of Methamphetamine going to Philippines and concealed inside statue of Mary was seized in another courier company. Governors Kayode Fayemi, Gboeyega Oyetola, Seyi Makinde , PA Adebanjo and several other prominent Yoruba leaders on Saturday paid their final farewell to the late spokesperson of Afenifere,Comrade Yinka Odumakin in his Moro home in Ife.  The burial rites commenced in the morning with the lying in state of the departed media mogul, while a church service held to pray for the repose of his soul.   Several others who attended the service paid glowing tribute to the late Yinka, describing him as selfless, patriotic and committed to good governance. His remains were interred in his country home in Moro.  Dignitaries at the burial include governors, former Governor Segun Mimiko, Afenifere leaders, members of the executive of Osun state , captains ob industries, civil society and pro democracy activists and self determination groups.

NDLEA busts Abuja drug cookies syndicate

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a 300-level university student, Rhoda Agboje and her boyfriend, Ifeanyi Nwankwo for selling drug cookies. The duo specialize in the production of drug cookies, who they subsequently sell to unsuspecting members of the public in Abuja.   According to a statement on Tuesday by the spokesman of the anti-drug agency, Femi Babafemi, narcotics agents with the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command of the NDLEA have also launched a manhunt for another member of the syndicate. The cookies are produced with Arizona, a highly psychoactive variant of cannabis; alcohol and rohypnol among other ingredients.   Babafemi said their lid was blown open following the arrest of Rhoda Agboje with four pieces of the drug cookies on Sunday, 18th April, 2021.  According to him, Agbaje was arrested at the NNPC Cooperative estate, opposite Gaduwa estate in Abuja based on a complaint that she gave an unsuspecting young girl the cookies

Mudashiru Obasa has donated rice to internally displaced persons, IDPs, in Borno State.  The gesture,, is to cushion the hardship faced by thousands of IDPs during the Holy Month of Ramadan fasting. Tosin Balogun and Jubril Olayinka are students of Odewale Community High School Ijoko Ogun State,  while Sanni Babatunde is a student of Tunik International School, Dalemo Alakuko and Dare Sunday is a tailoring apprentice at Dalemo Alakuko. The Police operatives had got winds of the planned reprisal attacks on their rivals in the school and raced to the scene immediately the suspects arrived to cause pandemonium and attack their targets. Items like cuttlasses, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted charms were recovered from them.
