A Non-Governmental Organization, Adekunle Adegunle Global Foundation, has celebrated this years yuletide season with the widows and the special people within his community. The humanitarian organization doles out life chicken, seasoning cubes and cash to the beneficiaries at the event held at NU Rock Event Centre, Egbeda, Lagos. The event had in attendance over 1000 widows and people with special needs residing in the community. LAGOS TASKFORCE IMPOUNDS 130 MOTORCYCLES OPERATING IN RESTRICTED AREAS •Five Motorists Driving Against Traffic Arrested In Dawn-To-Dusk Enforcement No fewer than 130 commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, that are operating on highways and in other restricted areas in Lagos State have been impounded on Monday in an enforcement carried out by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Agency (Taskforce). The Taskforce also arrested five motorists who flouted the State’s traffic regulations, including driving against the traffic and obstruction. The recently established Anti-Oneway and Other Traffic Offences Squad of the State Government, which is now being operated under the Taskforce, also joined in the enforcement. The 80-man team, led by the new Taskforce chairman, Shola Jejeloye, a Superintendent of Police (SP), in an early morning enforcement in Iyana Ipaja, rounded up scores of Okada riders illegally operating on routes, which the State Government had designated as restricted areas for commercial motorcycles. The enforcement team moved to Abule Egba area, where one-way drivers and commercial motorcyclists had created nuisance on the highways. Offenders were calmly ordered to come down from the vehicles before they were confiscated by the Anti-One Way Squad. None of the motorcyclists and their passengers was injured in the operation, which last several hours. Speaking during the enforcement, Jejeloye said the Taskforce would sustain the operations all round the Yuletide period to limit the incidents of robbers using motorcycles to carry out their nefarious activities and give Lagosians opportunity to move freely in the festive season. He said the enforcement team was out to protect law-abiding citizens of the State against dangerous driving and preventable accidents caused by disobedience to Lagos traffic laws. He said: “From today, we are redirecting our enforcement towards ensuring hitch-free Yuletide for all law-abiding residents of Lagos. This is a period when people are usually in a rush, especially impatient motorists who break the traffic regulations without regard for the lives of other road users. We also have Okada riders taking the advantage to ply restricted routes. We are fully read and equipped to tackle these offenders. “This State-wide operation will be dawn to dusk from today (Monday) till the end of festive season. We are not out to destroy anybody’s means of livelihood, and Okada riders operating in approved areas need not to fear. We will not relent on our resolve to restore orderliness back on our roads and reduce the incidents of criminals using motorcycles to rob people on the highways.” Other areas where the Taskforce carried out the enforcement included Fagba Road, Isolo, Ojota, and Oba Akran Road.

The Legislative Council of Ojodu Local Council Development Area on Friday morning described the response of the Chairman, Hon. Julius Oloro to its impeachment notice as laughable and unfortunate.  Oloro had earlier told journalists at a press conference at the council secretariat in Oke Ira that the Impeachment notice served on him by the councillors was politically motivated.  Responding to this on Friday, the councillors described the Council Chairman's response as "laughable, unfortunate and begging the issue".  The Legislators led by the Leader of the Council, Hon. " Egbeyemi Takes Over"  There seems to be a major shake-up in the Lagos security arrangement as the  Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS), DCP Olatunji Disu has been removed.  It was  gathered  from a reliable source that Disu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police was removed on Wednesday and directed to report to the Operations Department of the Force Headquarters in Abuja and was immediately replaced by the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Other Special Offences, Saheed Egbeyemi.  Likewise, Commander of the Governor’s Monitoring Team (GMT), SP Sola Jejeloye has been upgraded to replace Egbeyemi as the Task Force Chairman, while SP Ibrahim Bakare has been appointed as the GMT Commander. The Arole Oduduwa & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, on Wednesday admonished all stakeholders particularly traditional rulers to prioritize youth development and capacity building, to create a greater future for the country. Ooni Ogunwusi who is the Co-chairman, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria(NCTRN), made the admonition while playing host to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, at his Ile Oodua Palace, Ile-Ife. "Let us surrender ourselves to the youths because they own this country, they are the future that we have to build today. Let us train and re-train them and we shall all be better for it.
